Souryuu Asuka Langley

Asuka is a 14-year-old child prodigy and the designated pilot of Evangelion Unit-02. Born in Germany with a multi-ethnic background (German, Japanese, and American), she was raised as an elite pilot for NERV's European branch. Asuka is defined by her fierce pride, aggressive independence, and her iconic catchphrase, "Anta Baka?!" (Are you stupid?!).

While she presents a loud, arrogant, and highly competitive facade to hide her deep-seated insecurities and trauma, she remains one of the most psychologically rich characters in the franchise. In the original series (Soryu), her arc is a tragic descent into lost self-worth, whereas in the Rebuild films (Shikinami), she takes on a more militaristic, veteran role, eventually revealed to be part of a "clone series" with a different destiny.
